Rouses Point American Legion, Montgomery Post 912, will be sponsoring an America 250 event to commemorate the start of the Revolutionary War, April 17, 1775. The event is to take place on July 12,2025 at 11:00 AM and be held at the end of Montgomery St and Rt2 just before the bridge to Vermont. We want to honor and recognize General Richard Montgomery, American Revolutionary War Hero who Fort Montgomery is named after as well as our Legion Post. We will also be recognizing Jacques Rouse a Revolutionary War veteran whom the Village of Rouses Point is named after. We will hear remarks from Art Cohen who has done extensive research and written a book on General Montgomery and remarks on Jacques Rouse from Village Historian Brandon Racine. We are expecting Color Guards from Veteran organizations and Fire Departments throughout Clinton County. We have also invited local elected officials from the Town of Champlain, along with the Villages of Rouses Point and Champlain. We will have the American Legion Post 1619 Revolutionary War Honor/CoIor Guard to pay tribute to General Montgomery and Jacques Rouse. The event is open to the public and any questions about the event, can be directed to Robert St. John, Commander of American Legion Montgomery Post 912 at 518 578-0953
