Learn about the powders, perfumes, and other potions used in early America, and try making some of the (safer and healthier!) preparations yourself to take home!

Women and men in 18th and early 19th century America used cosmetics, appearance and scent aids, and engaged in self-care rituals just like we do today; some of their ideas about beauty and comfort were very different from our own, but some were surprisingly similar. Learn hands-on about this period in the history of beauty and go home with some self-made "historic cosmetics" and recipes. Spots are limited, so please register in advance at minermuseum.org; a $10 materials fee covers all supplies used, and there will, as always, be refreshments served.
