This spring marks the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolutionary War and the patriots' capture of Fort Ticonderoga led by Benedict Arnold. During the following year, Arnold played a crucial role in the defense of Lake Champlain and the Battle of Valcour Island. Jack Kelly's book God Save Benedict Arnold details the often neglected heroism of the man who would later become America's most notorious traitor. Jack Kelly is an award-winning historian and novelist. His books about the Revolution include Band of Giants and Valcour. The Wall Street Journal said of his, God Save Benedict Arnold: The True Story of America’s most Hated Man that it “propels readers into the brutal action with vigorous prose and sentences that are often short and pugnacious—much like Arnold himself.” Jack has received the DAR History Medal and is a New York Foundation for the Arts fellow in Nonfiction Literature. He lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley.

This program is sponsored by The Clinton County America250 Committee under the leadership of the Clinton County Historical Association with funding from a 2025 Special Programs Grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership. The event is open and free to the public.
