Pre-registration is required; space is limited.
Library Director Amy Bedard will lead an informative tour of the area near William Miner’s
“Million Dollar Dam” discussing the scope of the project that began in 1910 and the unique
ecosystem that provides a living classroom for environmental science students.
Saturday, June 21
Tour will depart from Miner Institute’s Heritage Exhibit (1034 Miner Farm Road) promptly
at 9:30 am. The Heart’s Delight Farm Heritage Exhibit will be open for visitors from 8:30 to
9:30 am. The group will return to Miner Institute by 12:30 pm. Carpooling is strongly
encouraged.
Wednesday, July 16
Tour will depart from Miner Institute’s Heritage Exhibit (1034 Miner Farm Road) promptly
at 10 am. The Heart’s Delight Farm Heritage Exhibit will be open for visitors from 9 am to 3
pm so participants can visit before or after the tour. The group will return to Miner Institute
by 1 pm. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
Thursday, August 14
Tour will depart from Miner Institute’s Heritage Exhibit (1034 Miner Farm Road) promptly
at 4 pm. The Heart’s Delight Farm Heritage Exhibit will be open for visitors until departure
at 4 pm. The group will return to Miner Institute by 7 pm. Carpooling is strongly
encouraged.
Good walking shoes are recommended, as the terrain is rocky and uneven.
The road into Flat Rock is not conducive to low-lying vehicles.
Total walking distance 1.5 - 2 miles.
Bug spray, sunscreen, walking sticks, and bottled water are encouraged.
